The Artists

Hi my name is Melanie and I’ve been making jewelry for over two years.  After completing my post secondary education and working in industry for several years I realized there was something more for me out there.  It blossomed out of a search for something that I could do anywhere to accommodate my transient lifestyle! I believe everyone needs a creative outlet of some sort to express themselves and this is mine. It helps me disappear into a place of creation, of beauty and of expression. Sometimes it feels like a job so I take a break until I can merrily begin to create again. I love what I do and can see myself as an old woman still hauling around sacks of beads!

Hi, My name is Sandy and I have been creating with glass for approximately 9 years. Living in the north, I had no opportunity to take stained-glass classes. I purchased books and between reading and experimenting I taught myself the basics. I learned the procedure is not difficult, just labour intensive! I hobby crafted for a few years, then opened a small shop in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan  where I now reside and work.

Besides creating new pieces of stained-glass, doing some repair work and lots of custom work, I also give classes to those interested in learning the art. A manageable, one day class wets the appetite for the beginner.   In 2005 I introduced glass fusion to my shop. This has been an exciting new venture! Pictures, plates, coasters, wind chimes and glass pendants, to name a few of the things being produced.

Never did I dream I would be doing what I love to do at this point in my life! I still have several years to retirement – but it’s no longer an issue – I’ll never retire! Why would I want to give this all up? Every day is an exciting new day to rise, create and live out my passion!
